ICARO birding experience
Coll de Pal
35

Following the success of our recent excursions in this area, we invite you to join a new high-mountain outing in one of the most remarkable locations in the Pyrenees: the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. We have carefully selected three areas with outstanding bird diversity to offer you a truly enriching experience.

A thrilling and intensive morning awaits, with the chance to observe species such as the Alpine chough, red-billed chough, common crossbill, citril finch, Eurasian bullfinch, rock thrush, ring ouzel, northern wheatear, woodlark, bearded vulture and golden eagle, among many others.

In addition, we will also have excellent opportunities to observe mountain mammals such as chamois, roe deer and marmots, which often allow relatively close views, making it easier to capture high-quality photographs.

We will meet at 07:30 a.m. in the parking area on the left-hand side, just opposite the turn-off that leads to the Xalet de Coll de Pal Refuge, at the following coordinates: 42.294074, 1.905415. From here, we will begin the first of our itineraries towards the Els Orris viewpoint, where we can enjoy a relaxed breakfast while reviewing the first birds observed.

The second route will take us along the southern slope of the marmot trail, where, in addition to this peculiar rodent, we will also be able to observe highly interesting birds such as the rock thrush, northern wheatear and rock bunting, while keeping an eye on the higher areas, where the bearded vulture and the golden eagle are often seen.

After lunch and once we have regained our energy, we will return to the vehicles and drive a short stretch up to the upper part of the pass, where the final itinerary will take place. There, we will enjoy close views of vultures, yellowhammers and crossbills, as well as chamois, among other species.

In the early afternoon, we will begin our descent towards Bagà, where the excursion will come to an end.
